Two of the biggest names in all of music—Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd— made an appearance at Yams Day 2017 yesterday (Jan. 19) to show some love.
The event took place in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and in addition to A$AP Mob, Tyler the Creator, Lil Uzi Vert , Danny Brown, Cam’ron, T-Pain and Playboi Carti were also on hand to celebrate Yams’ life at the event. The annual tribute is organized by A$AP Mob and Yam’s mother, Tatiana Paulino. Yams passed away in January 2015 after an accidental overdose.
The crowd, however, got a special surprise when Kendrick and The Weeknd showed up to pay respect to Yams. Kendrick energetically performed “m.A.A.d. City,” while the The Weeknd called Yams “the culture” before heading into a nice rendition of “Low Life.”
